Back tracking to a few weeks ago, Glenn, Hannah and I headed south one Friday evening to spend the weekend with my relatives in Palmerston North. The reason for our stay was to celebrate my aunty's 60th birthday, and also catch up with my cousin and his little boy who were back in NZ for the week.
We all went out for dinner on the Friday evening and then it was back to my aunty and uncle's for coffee and cake, and present opening.
My Aunty just loved the hand knitted socks I gave her, made in her favourite colours.
Saturday we were up bright and early to drive over to Whanganui for the day. We had several places to check out including the river side market. This weekly market is well worth checking out - art, food, craft, plants and much more.
By then it was time for our picnic lunch so we headed to Virginia Lake, a great spot to visit on a sunny day.
We also spent a bit of time at Kowhai Park later in the day before heading back to Palmerston in the early evening.
Sunday morning Donna and Jess took us to Orlando Country Cafe for coffee, and to meet Jess' parents. What a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. Glenn, Jess and Hannah had a go at the driving range, heaps of fun.
Then it was time for some shopping, Hannah and I couldn't get into the Plaza fast enough!! We both had Christmas vouchers burning holes in our purses, lol.
Our final stop before heading back home was a visit to the Esplanade Gardens, to ride the train and for Hannah to check out all the new additions to the park since her last time there.
Then it was time to hit the road and head back home. Another lovely weekend with our family, good times. (The view above is the Ruahine Ranges, just to the west of our town).
See you soon x
