Bunnies, Bubbles and a Birthday

Happy Wednesday and yay,  it's a short week coming up as the Easter break starts on Friday.

Before I chat about my latest stitching finish, I'd just like to take the time to say thank you for the comments left here on my blog, lots of kind words and encouragement - it means so much to hear from you.  I've had this blog for nearly 17 years and I still enjoy taking the time to pop up a post every now and then with my stitching, books and other happenings.  It's quite fun to go back in the archives and check out dates we did things around the house, trips we took, when I started a particular project, etc.

This little cutie pillow is part of the Spring freebie by Christina Whilst Iris Naps. I stitched both charts last year but didn't get this one made up. You can find it here.

The fabric was a piece of random hand dyed fabric I found in my stash and I'm pretty sure I used the recommended thread colours.  The chenille trim is by DMC.

On Saturday 9th April I celebrated my birthday and at work on Friday, my lovely staff put on morning tea for me. I work with the nicest people!

Saturday morning of my birthday, Hannah and I enjoyed going out to one of the local cafes, coffee for me, iced chocolate for Hannah, and a browse in the bookshop and sewing shop. Then we'd invited a few friends and family to come for dinner. It was so good to see everyone as we've all been staying close to home and work during this latest Covid outbreak.  A few glasses of bubbles were enjoyed!

On Sunday evening, Hannah and I went to to see the latest Fantastic Beasts movie, the Secrets of Dumbledore, which we both really liked.  We hadn't been to the movies in ages so it felt really good to be able to see a movie on the big screen.

See you soon x

Bunnies, Carrots and a Birthday

Here's a few more of the little designs I stitched during March.

Spring Hare Etching by Cecelia Turner of Heart in Hand Needlearts, from the Spring 2020 Punch Needle and Primitive Stitching magazine. I used Classic Colourworks Sticks and Twigs and Blushing Beauty on 28 count grey jobelan fabric.

Tilda fabric and Lady Dot Creates Ballerina chenille trim for the finishing.

This little carrot design is a free design by Christina from Whilst Iris Naps, and can be found here

I have stitched the bunnies by Christina as well, and they are in the "to be finished" basket, along with a couple of recent Santa Sunday and Merry Monday projects completed recently.

Back on the 9th April, I celebrated another birthday and this year I was able to be with my friends and family. Last year we were in our little lock down bubble of just Glenn, Hannah and I, and even though I had a lovely day, this year to being able to celebrate with friends and family made me so happy.

The wonderful ladies I work with surprised me with a delicious morning tea, and there was cake too!

My cousin Donna and her boyfriend Jess came to stay with us for the night so it was good to catch up with them. Donna made this yummy spiced pear cake for our dessert.

On Saturday evening I'd invited my family and a few friends to go out to dinner with us to our favourite local restaurant, Saffron, and it was absolutely delicious.

I'm so very grateful for the birthday messages, texts, phone calls and visits, and the lovely presents I received, a totally wonderful weekend!

See you soon x

Easter Stitching Plans

Stitching for Easter 2021 is now underway. I have a couple patterns already kitted with fabric and thread from last year that I didn't get done so they'll be included on the list to stitch too.

First up, Harietta and Co by Brenda Gervais. I'm unsure of the fabric I'm using, and it doesn't show up in this photo, but it has a slight vintage wash look about it. I'm using most of the recommended threads and the ones I didn't have I've substituted DMC threads.

Here are some of the charts from my Easter stitching project bag:

- recent purchases from the Tiny Modernist and Crocette a Gogo, buy, print and stitch - love a PDF chart!
- A chart from Hands on Design;
- and have you seen this very cute free chart by Christine of Whilst Iris Naps

There are so many lovely Easter/Spring stitching charts available. Of course, here in New Zealand we are now going into our autumn season and yay, I can hear it raining - we are so much in need of some decent rain here, we've probably had two days of rain all year so far, it was a very dry summer for us.

See you soon x
