Easter Weekend

Easter this year saw us travel all the way up to Pukekohe for a long‑overdue catch‑up with Glenn’s Dad's side of the family. We hadn’t been there since October 2013 — far too long, and even though we saw some of the family at Glenn's dad's funeral service last March, some of the family we hadn't seen since Hannah was a baby.

It was awesome to revisit familiar spots, soak in the scenery, and even stop by the old Jamieson family farm. On one of the night's there was a gathering with 46 family members present, including the newest family member, aged 6 weeks old :) Lots of hugs, food, and laughter, a very special occasion.

We'd hired an air b & b at Karaka, the perfect spot for the weekend.

We all fell in love with Glenn's aunty's new ragdoll kitten, little Chowder, he is absolutely gorgeous :)

We took the girls on a sight seeing trip around Pukekohe, a real mix of nostalgia and “wow, things have changed, and gosh, this is a busy place now".

from the last time we visited :)  Glenn's Dad lived on the family farm at Buckland until he left home to train in his trade as a carpenter, the family farm being established in the early 1900's. There are no Jamiesons living along Jamieson Rd now.

The weather was perfect all Easter, asides from a few showers later on Saturday evening.

From there, we headed back to Taupo for a night, and enjoyed a chilled out stay there, some more yummy food, a treat from Starbucks and a wander around in the sunshine. It was a very busy, lots of people out and about.

A very meaningful Easter, reconnecting with family and making memories :)

See you soon x

Easter weekend

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend, we certainly enjoyed our four day break.

We started the weekend with a very wet day on Good Friday, the tail end of Cyclone Tam, which had seen quite rough weather and flooding up the top of the North Island and Auckland. The rest of the weekend the weather was very warm and sunny. We spent our break working on some projects around home, catching up with family, a day out to Napier and just enjoying being around home.

We were treated to some yummy Easter goodies on Thursday morning at work.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday, just perfect for strolling around Napier, browsing the shops and enjoying our favourite Starbucks drinks.  Lots of people out and about enjoying the sunshine.

We had a Jamieson family barbeque on Saturday evening and had a fun night catching up with Paul, Jude and the girls.

Of course we enjoyed some Easter treats!

Hannah's annual Easter basket, minus the new pj's she was already using lol.

We enjoyed our "cheese" o'clock on Easter Sunday after a day of gardening and other outside jobs. I cleaned the greenhouse out and emptied some of the vegetable gardens, all ready for winter.

Glenn finished the new raised rose garden so a few new plants purchased and planted in the garden.

My niece Zoe came home for a few days to stay with my parents so it was super lovely to catch up with her, and her Dad, my brother Marcus, came to stay too. I'm so proud of Zoe and her partner Dylan - they have recently purchased and moved into a new home, and Zoe has also changed positions at her current workplace, so busy times for her.  Diesel just loves Zoe and gives her lots of smoochy hugs whenever she comes to our house.

This week has been zooming by, public holiday Monday, three days to work, another public holiday on Friday for ANZAC Day. I had thought about taking some time off  but I decided to wait until the next lot of holidays in July as we have bit of a holiday adventure planned, more about that another time!

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon x

Our Easter 2023

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed our four day break.

The weather was pretty good, although we did light the fire one evening for the first time this autumn.  We spent time with family, celebrated my birthday, which fell on Easter Sunday this year, worked on some projects at home, and looked after Diesel after his operation last week, and generally enjoyed being around home. Hannah is now on school holidays for the next two weeks.

Of course we enjoyed some Easter treats!

New books bought with birthday money - Nicky Pellegrino is one of my favourite NZ authors.

I'm looking forward to reading Pip Cameron's new book, filled with lovely recipes and stories about life on a high country farm in the South Island.

I think these could be the last of my blackberry nip roses unless they flower again before winter, they smell divine!

We had a Jamieson family dinner catch up on Friday evening and enjoyed a delicious roast dinner and for dessert I made Brownie Trifle, this is a firm favourite now. This time I used boysenberries as well as strawberries, so yummy!

One of my friends made a chocolate banana birthday cake for morning tea, yum too!

A few weeks ago, I bought a new car and my nieces gave me  this little dinky toy for a bit of fun - my car is just missing the pink stripe, I thought that was hilarious!

Now Glenn has finished our bathroom renovations, he's moved onto his next project, the outdoor deck area. Over the weekend, he removed the trellis work and has relined the outside walls.

Next up is to reline the inner walls and then the walls will be painted. Umm, what colour?

Last week Diesel spent the day at the Vets to have his neutering procedure. Asides from being a bit groggy on Thursday evening, over the weekend he was back to his happy self. He has his own Easter bonnet to wear for the week until the stitches are removed.

I spent a bit of time sewing and finished off a couple of projects, which I'll share next time. I didn't get any Easter stitching finished this year, I had a couple of patterns kitted and small starts made on these though so I think I'll work on these over the next few months, ready for next year.

I had three new cross stitch project starts too, so I'll share them later this week, and also spent several happy hours sorting and reorganising amongst my charts, fabrics and threads. A friend recently gave me a whole pile of assorted linens and some threads so they were added to my stash too.

See you soon xx

Easter 2021

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend, we certainly enjoyed our four day break. The weather was perfect - sunny and warm. We got lots of jobs ticked off our to do list, caught up with family and friends, had a few sleep ins (gained an extra hour on Sunday due to Daylight Savings finishing), went to the movies to see the latest Peter Rabbit movie (hilarious) and generally enjoyed being around home.

Our little cousin Ryan is now 9 months old!

My "second" daughter Kaiah, Hannah's best friend, stayed with us for a few days

We had a lovely Easter afternoon with Glenn's parents, my brother and sister in law and their girls

A very happy and fun Easter weekend!

I'll be back soon with some more Easter stitching.
