Last of the 2010 Ornaments

Here are the last of my ornaments for this year. I've been staying up late this week to get them all jazzied up, just in time to be given out to my family and friends.

I'm not sure of my final ornament tally for 2010 but I'm pretty pleased to have finally reached my goal. I've already started thinking about next years!! There's been some great freebies come out in the last month and I've kitted a few up to make a start on in late January. Kath and I are also planning to work our way through this year's Little House Needleworks ornaments series which I'm looking forward too, I think I'll be ordering some fabric for them as my ornament stitching linen is getting quite low.

Christmas Treats

Over the years I've met some truly wonderful people through my blog - through exchanges I've done, or stitchalongs, or just from a friendly comment left for me. Two of these friends are Andrea and Carol, both of whom I've known for several years now. Recently Andrea completely surprised me with this sweet Christmas RAK ornament, which is just gorgeous, and so beautifully made up with a beaded edging, I must try this myself one day soon :)

I also received some goodies from my dear friend Carol, including this little star ornament, and I mean little! Carol has stitched it over 1 thread, which to this day, I can't manage to do myself very well, lol. This was one of my favourites from this year's JCS ornaments mag and I was so pleased to see that Carol had stitched it for me. Carol also sent a fat quarter of Christmas fabric and a really cool thread holder.

Many, many thanks to you both Andrea and Carol, it was really neat to get your ornaments in the mail.

I had another go at trying to get some decent shots of our Christmas tree all decorated and this was the best by far :) Next year I'll definately be investing in a bigger tree to be able to display ALL our handmade and stitched ornaments.

We might even have a proper wall behind there next year, who knows, lol.

More Christmas Stitching

Last week I came across a small freebie pattern by Threadwork Primitives that I thought was rather nice. I thought it would be just perfect to stitch several up and make into little stitched pillows for some of my co-workers.

My thread choices were DMC 355 and 580. You can find the pattern here.

This next finish was the small project I took with me to Napier last weekend. I thought this design was just so sweet when it first came out and was rather thrilled when Kath gave me the chart for it recently.

I went looking through my fabric bins last night and pulled out a couple of fat quarters that I thought would match quite well so I hope to get these made up over the next few days.

Many thanks for the lovely comments left about Christmas Rules yesterday - I appreciate them so much :) ( A little note for Lisa, the fabric I'm using is 32ct mocha belfast linen).

Thanks for stopping by,

L'R de rein Ornament finish

Here's my small ornament finish from yesterday, which an hour ago I made into a small hanging pillow:

This freebie pattern had been in my stitching bag for ages - this one's a gift but I might just have to restitch it again for our tree :)

September Ornament

For my September ornament choice I decided to go with my favourite out of this year's Just Cross Stitch Ornaments magazine - I just sneaked in to get all the stitches done, I didn't quite have a full skein of the GAST Blue Jay thread.

thread: recommended Blue Jay Gentle Art Sampler thread

I decided to go with a simple pillow finish using some sparkly blue and silver fabric and lace from my stash, and buttons found in the button collection at work. Its definately very handy that we have 100's and 100's buttons to choose from :)
