Summer Holidays

Every year, just after New Year's, we head north to one of our favourite NZ holiday destinations, Taupo. We stay at a lake front hotel, nothing flash, but it has everything we need, including great views of the lake and close to town.

This year the weather wasn't as good, or as warm as previous years, we arrived to rain and a cold wind, but we did get one or two nice days. There are so many activities to do and attractions to see in Taupo, many we have done on previous holidays. 

This time some of the things we did were: visited the Prawn Park for an afternoon of prawn fishing, played mini putt by the lake, went to the night carnival, had Chinese takeaways by the lake, and spent an afternoon at Kinloch but I didn't brave a swim in the lake, it was far too chilly for me!

 

We also tripped over to Rotorua for the day, its just under an hours drive further north and went for a ride on the Skyline Gondolas.

At the top of the Gondolas there is a Jelly Belly shop, where Hannah got a few treats.

The rest of our time was spent swimming at the AC Baths, eating out at some of our favourite restaurants, browsing the shops, and relaxing at our motel unit.

We are already looking forward our next holiday there in 2018!
