Earlier in the year I stitched this pretty design by With Thy Needle and Thread, Forget Me Not Sampler, and I thought it would be perfect size to use on the front of a zippered project bag.
I haven't made one of these before, and I have never sewn a zip into anything, so with a friend's help recently I had a go. I didn't follow any particular pattern or instructions but I did browse around a few sites and Pinterest to get a general idea.
I'm really happy with the result - it's quite a large size, I think the zipper was at least 16 inches long but I didn't sew it to any exact measurements. The fabric is actually more teal, not as blue as these photos are showing. So sewing a zipper in is not as scary as I thought it would be!

Lovely job Katrina. I love the stitching added to the front.
Beautiful finish!
Good for you! What a great idea for that piece.
Beautiful!
A wonderful, first project pouch with a very neatly sewed zipper!! Well done!
Absolutely beautiful finish! I can't believe this is your first time installing a zipper. It looks excellent!
I love what you did with the stitching bag - great job! I have thought about stitching up one as well, but just haven't tried it yet. I like to make my stitching into something other than always framing it. Happy stitching!

Wow! That's a great idea! I wanted to make my own project bag but hadn't thought about adding something stitched! How lovely!!
Wow you made a fantastic job! It is beautiful.
It looks great!
Fabulous project bag! Love it very much!
Great job making the project bag! MANY MANY years ago I used to sew clothes for my daughters and myself, and put a few zippers in, but they were NOT my favorite things. I MIGHT give it another try one of these days... Yours is so very nice! Hugs!
A gorgeous stitching bag. Love the fabric.
