Red Wednesday

Hello friends

As well as the usual cross stitching going on here, over the past few weeks I've been enjoying some red stitchery work, and somehow Wednesday evening has turned into the night I get all my supplies out.

As well as finishing off a few UFO's from last year, I've finally made a start on my own "Tis the Season" blocks, some of which I've already stitched two or three times for gifts.  I'm stitching mine with my good old fav, DMC 321.

Browsing around a few Aussie patchwork and quilting blogs over the past few months has enabled me quite a lot, lol, so I recently splashed out on some Rosalie Quinlan and Gail Pan Designs. I couldn't resist these gorgeous Christmas designs - I love stitching anything red and Christmasy!

Recently I was able to visit the Cloth Shop and I came across the perfect fabric I'm intending to use for the bag in Natalie Bird's Red Home book. This fabric range is Independence Trail by Minick and Simpson for Moda.

I'd like to send out some special birthday wishes to my dear friend Clare, who is celebrating her birthday today.  Happy birthday my friend!

See you soon x

I love your purchases. I am a real fan of Gail Pan Designs.. One of the projects I'm working on at the moment is a redwork. My girlfriend designed a redwork stitchery of 9 nutcracker blocks. It is a gorgeous quilt although mine will be put together a bit differently from hers. I have used fabric from my stash for the cornerstones/binding and sashing/borders, so, that is good I only had to be background and will have to buy backing I think. I am using DMC902.

Pretty redwork! I love all the new patterns you've chosen. I've never tried this type of stitching before but it looks like it's fun.
Your fabrics are truly lovely. I can't wait to see the finished bag.
