Out & About

 Hi friends

Last Friday I spent the day out with my friends Janet and Elsie. We took a little road trip north to visit some of Hawke's Bay's patchwork and quilting shops, as well as one of my favourite places to shop for stitching goodies, Heirlooms.

The first stop on our agenda was Patch n Quilt, at Puketapu.

This was the first time any of us had been there, and we all came away with a few goodies.

Next up was a late morning tea/early lunch stop and we chose Missionview Gardens

Set within the garden centre is a Cafe and gift shop, which has the most amazing cake fridge, filled to the brim with lots of delicious treats. Their vanilla slice is truly divine :)

Then it was off to JJ's Crafts, where we browsed their great selection of sewing fabrics and other crafting accessories. Now that one of my local quilting shops has closed I think this will be the place to find fabrics.

Next stop was Heirlooms, which is owned by the lovely Sherelyn Whiteman. Sherelyn's needlework and gift gallery is true pleasure to visit. I just love seeing all of Sherelyn's stitched models, many by the Sweetheart Tree and JBW Designs, and I always come away very inspired.

This wonderful treasure trove of goodies is housed in Sherelyn's family home, a wonderful villa, which has been restored over the years by Sherelyn's husband.

So you're probably wondering what goodies I might have purchased?  Well, Christmas seemed to be the theme of the day - a few pieces of lovely Christmas fabric, some trims, hangers and a stitchery pattern by The Birdhouse.

From Sherelyn's a couple of charts and threads from my wish list, as well as this cute Just Nan pattern, I can never resist a Just Nan, lol.

So in all, a wonderful day  - time catching up with friends, and some new stash!

Thank you for stopping by, great to hear from you, enjoy your stitching :)
