Winter Crafty Getaway

Over the recent weekend I went to the beach with some friends for a crafty get together. The weather was absolutely shocking, it rained non-stop until late Sunday afternoon and it was bitterly cold but it was just perfect for our indoors stitchey weekend.

So we stitched, knitted, talked, laughed heaps, ate (!!), stayed up late and sleep in, and had a wonderful, wonderful time. The house we stayed at was roomy, toasty warm and had a beautiful outlook, once the sun came out.
I can't honestly remember the last time I stitched and stitched and stitched, and knitted too - it was pure bliss. As a result, I got several projects either finished or underway.

I was able to finish this cardigan, which is going to be a birthday gift for a friend's little girl.

Ashford Tekapo 100% New Zealand wool

I was very happy to finish the baby sampler - this one seemed to be taking me ages to get done, lol.

Gardienne de Chats by Tralala

stitched on 32ct mystery linen with suggested DMC threads

I've had this pattern kitted up for ages and thought it was most appropriate to start while it was pouring down outside.

The Rain Fell by Little House Needleworks

These photos were taken early Sunday morning so I've stitched a whole lot more of the design since then.

After a relaxing time away, it was good to get home late Sunday afternoon to DH and Hannah. They'd had a jolly good time themselves while I was away, and I walked in the house to find Glenn had our dinner cooking away, our housework all done and washing up to date too - I think I'll keep him, lol.

How fabulous - a whole weekend for stitching/knitting - almost heaven! Love your start on The Rain Fell, that is one of my fave LHN designs, such soft, pretty colours. Look forward to seeing
your progress.

It sounds like you had the most wonderful time. It may have been rainy, but I think that just helps you to snuggle into a chair and stitch the time away. Love the sweater and your other projects as well.

Weekends like that are just pure heaven! The blue sky in your first pic is absolutely breathtaking. Whereabouts was it taken?

Hi,

Isn't it great! A whole weekend stitching and knitting and having fun with your friends while your husband en girlie are having fun at home! This March I went away with my sister -also without our childeren - and we had a wonderful time with lots of stitching and fun. I hope we get the chance to do it again in autumn.
I like your stitching and by the way ...I also like your country. Five years ago DH and I had a fantastic five-week during holiday in NZ.
Greetings from the Netherlands!
Minie
