A Productive Weekend

Except for a break in the weather yesterday when the sun came out, its been wet and cold here so it was pretty much an indoorsy type weekend all round.

Donna, my cousin, stayed with us from Thursday lunchtime through until late Saturday afternoon. While I was at work Friday she caught up with a friends and some of our relatives. We had thought about going out somewhere for dinner on Friday night, but decided to stay in with the weather being so miserable and watched a couple of dvds, Fun with Dick and Jane (hilarious) and Crash ( a bit strange). Saturday I spent most of the day in the kitchen making oodles of vegetable soup and muffins. The muffins didn't last too long with Glenn and Donna getting stuck into them. Donna went off to stay with another cousin of ours Saturday night so I decided to get the sewing machine out. I finished making up this bag, which has been in the works for a few weeks now:

and here's the Victorian Floral needleroll from last weekend's stitchalong

I also managed to make up the seasonal exchange gift and also tweak my SBEBB House Exchange gift. Pics to come at a later date.

Sunday morning was spent doing the usual jobs around the house while Glenn made a start on our 2nd bathroom!! wahoo, our 2nd bathroom has been in the works since we first built our house 10 years ago, and it has never been finished off. In the meantime its become bit of a storage room, we've been putting anything in there that really hasn't got a spot anywhere else in the house. Now I need to sort out all this stuff out as its sitting on the floor in the garage. Thanks Glenn! Glenn's parents bought us the bath about five years ago for a Christmas present and it was put in the bathroom and thats as far as we got. Now at least Glenn has made a start but I'm not holding my breath that I'll actually get to use the bath in there any time soon, lol.

So while Glenn was banging away and generally making a racket, I decided to try out some more new muffin recipes - Crunchy Lemon and ABC's (apple, banana, and chocolate). Then later in the afternoon I took my niece Zoe and my little friend Georgia to see "Over the Hedge" at the movies. What a laugh, I think I laughed more at this one than at "Cars". The girls certainly did, lol.

I gave into tempation last week and ordered the Christmas Elf Fairy kit which arrived on the weekend. I dug around in my fabric last night to find something suitable for it, something sparkly, but didn't find anything that was quite right so I think I'll check out Countrystitch. Then I spent some time overlocking fabric for Mermaid Heart, LHN's Seasons pillows, and this month's ornie choice, JBW Design's Alphabet Wreath - all of these which I'm taking on retreat this weekend, not that I'll stitch on all of them but you just never know, lol.

And here's another Little House Needleworks finish, Home for the Holidays, from last year's JCS. Its turned out slightly larger than I intended so I might sew this into a little flanged pillow.

Sounds like a very busy weekend. Love the needleroll. The bag turned out really nice, too. I'll trade ya the 95+F temps and humidity for a bit of that coolness and rain!!
