A finish & a catch up with stitching friends

This project is quite well traveled, having come with me to both Sydney and then the Gold Coast, and I'm pleased it's finally finished!

Santa's List by Country Cottage Needleworks was started as my first Stitch Maynia project back in early May. I used most of the recommended threads and my favourite coloured linen, 32 count vintage mocha belfast linen.

Just before I went away on holiday, I spent the afternoon with my stitching buddies, this time we met at Val's house. It was a miserably cold afternoon, later in the day I'm sure it looked like it was trying to snow! Kath came down from Napier so it was wonderful to catch up with her.

After some delicious soup and savouries for lunch out came the treats - there's always lots of treats when we get together!

I just love hanging out with these lovely friends of mine, a good dose of friendship, laughter and always the best time being together.

See you soon xxx

A Sunny Holiday

Last Sunday, the 21st July, we arrived home in the early hours from our family holiday to the Gold Coast, Australia. We flew in and out of Wellington, and our flight over to Brisbane was first thing in the morning so I think we were awake at the motel at 2.45am!

Once we arrived at Brisbane airport we found a shuttle to take us down to Surfer's Paradise, where we stayed for the next week.  We chose to stay at the Breakfree Beachpoint, which is in a great location, only a few streets back from the main street of Surfers.

The weather was just perfect the whole holiday, sunny and mild during the day and a bit cooler in the evenings. It felt so good being out and about in the sunshine.

On our list for our trip were visits to Movie world, Sea World, Wet n Wild, and Currumbin Wild Life Sanctuary, which we all enjoyed and the kids had a great time.

The kids also spent quite a bit of time in the swimming pool at the apartment.

Lots and lots of walking around taking in the sights, and most days we also used the trams and buses, so easy to use.

Lots of shopping was done too, at the local shopping malls and also, at Harbour Town, a brand direct outlet shopping centre.

We also enjoyed some delicious breakfast and dinner meals out during the week.   For our last evening we took in the night time views from the Skypoint Tower and enjoyed a drink, while watching the twinkling lights as far as you could see.

Before we knew it, our holiday week had passed by and it was time to fly back to Wellington, and then head home. What a wonderful time we had together, and with our friends too. Lots of happy memories made.

See you soon xx
