My Knitting Group

Last year we started a weekly knitting group at my work as some of the ladies were interested in learning how to knit socks. We had lots of laughs and fun together as they learnt how to use double pointed needles and most of the ladies finished their first pair of socks.

We decided to continue on with our group this year, even though it's been stinking hot some days that the last thing you feel like doing is knitting.

We've started the year with handwarmers - this is a simple pattern shared with us by one of the ladies in our group. Some of us have been knitting them for gifts, others to give to a local cancer support group charity. I've made the three pairs below, 100% NZ Pure DK wool, and they don't quite use a
50 g ball.

Next up, a couple of us are going to knit these and also, one of the newbies to our group is going to learn how to make socks and we're also planning some shawl knitting over the winter months. Lots of fun!

See you soon x

My sister is trying to get me to join a knitting group with her, I only wish I had the time! Love the handwarmers, do you happen to have a link to the pattern that I could share with her, she never knit and wants to learn and I think this would be an ideal pattern to start. That is so nice of you to teach your co-workers!

A knitting group at work would make work so much more fun! None of the people I work with have hobbies like knitting, quilting, or stitching. I find socks to be a great project for hot weather as you don't have anything sitting on your lap making you hot.

It sounds a lot of fun, The fingerless mitts you want to make look really great I like them. I plan to knit a shawl soon, it's the 2nd Avenue shawl, multi coloured with each colour in a different pattern or stripe. Got the pattern off ravelry. Have seen it on Instagram and it looked lovely. I always have socks on my needles, love making them.
