Catching Up

I can't believe its mid January already! I'm still on my summer holidays, having taken an extra week off to spend with Hannah, who still has a few weeks to go before starting the new school year.  I've been in full declutter/clean mode since returning from our annual trip to Taupo earlier in the month. Boy does it feel good to go through everything, all the cupboards, wardrobes etc and give them all a thorough going over! I still have a bit to do but the weather has turned hot hot hot here and it's looking like a whole week is coming of high temps, 30 plus degrees C each day, so there won't be any cleaning happening around here in that heat!!

So back tracking a bit to our lovely holiday now, for the past couple of years after New Year's we have headed north to Taupo for a few days.  We stay in a lakefront motel, nothing flash, but it has everything we need including a great view of the lake.

We always first stop at Huka Falls on arriving at Taupo.

A quick stop at the Honey Hive shop.

Then the rest of our time is spent swimming in the lake, mostly at Kinloch, eating out at some of our favourite restaurants, browsing the shops, a bit of sight seeing and relaxing at our motel unit.

The view from our motel room each morning and night was stunning.

Lots of reading happened.

This time we visited Craters of the Moon, a thermal walk way:

But mostly we did lots of swimming in the lake and at the local Pools too

Of course we found a few parks to go to:

Soon it was time to come home and we are already looking forward to our holiday there in 2017!!

See you soon xx

Looks like fun was had by all. Weather looks perfect. I am in the middle of reorganising/decluttering cupboards too, although too hot and tired to do anything today but sit in my lazyboy hair and read magazines. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

You will probably be seeing similar photos on my blog too when I come back from Taupo. We are planning to walk the Huka Falls to Aratiatia Dam and back one of the days we are there. How cold was the Lake for swimming?

Wonderful pictures! Was that a bee sting pastry I saw on the plate? I had one over 15 yrs ago and still remember how wonderful it tasted.
