A New Crochet Blanket

Last weekend we got to enjoy an extra long weekend with public holidays both on Friday and Monday.  DH and I had lots planned to do outside, getting all the spring vegetable seedlings and tomatoes planted, taking the cover off the swimming pool and cleaning it out (yuck, slime!) and getting all the gardens weeded and trees trimmed. I also started on some deep cleaning ie. ceilings and walls in the bathrooms, which I like to get on with at this time of the year.

Being a long weekend, I thought it would be a good chance to start on a new crochet blanket, the Spice of Life, which has been a Crochet Along organised by Sandra from Cherry Heart and Blacksheep Wools.  I'd been following along via Instagram and watching the progress made by various bloggers and finally, last Thursday during my lunch break, I spent a bit of time with the lovely ladies at my local sewing and knitting shop putting together a selection of colours.

All the wool I'm using is 100% pure New Zealand wool and either Crucci or Woolly.

I finished up Part 1 on Monday night and Hannah has already claimed this for her!

I still think of myself as a beginner when it comes to crochet, I still have to look up how to do various stitches, so I thought this would be a great project to try out some new techniques and maybe have a blanket done by Christmas time, not that it will be needed around here in the middle of summer.

Anyone else have this lovely blanket on the go?

There's a Facebook group and you can follow along on Instagram #spiceoflifecal.

I'm hoping to get Part 2 underway soon.

Have a great weekend!

I dearly love the colors of your Afghan....Wow....I too crochet and I have made several afghans in the past myself but nothing like this though. Looking forward to more progress on this. Your daughter has good taste....the colors are just beautiful.

Happy Crocheting

I've seen a number of these popping up and they are so beautiful - your colour choices are gorgeous and I can see why your daughter has already claimed it... I have a daughter like that as well :-)
