My Pink Rose

Over recent months I have been stitching a fair bit but no finishing has been happening so in order to get back my finishing mojo, I decided to finish this sweet little piece.

My Pink Roses by Blackbird Designs
stitched on 32ct spotty natural belfast linen with recommended threads

The backing fabric has been in my stash for ages and I coffee dyed some ric rac for the edging, which I sewed on with some Mill Hill pink beads.

Talking of ric rac, does anyone have any suggestions for some good sites to purchase trims, ric rac or chenille trim, etc either here in NZ or Australia, or online? I've been slowly using what I had but its now getting to slim pickings and my local sewing shop has only a small selection of trims.  Cheers!

See you soon, and have a lovely weekend xx

Lovely stitchery Katrina, beautifully finished. I will look at The Ribbon Rose in Auckland for trims. There is also a lovely website that I visit quite a bit called "laraines on Capri". She is on the Gold Coast Australia. The Bernina outlets in N.Z. have trims also.thimbles and threads in Upper Hutt. Hope these may be helpful. It must be a shock to the system coming home from holiday to the cold. Glad you had a great time. Shirley

It's lovely Katrina. I know it isn't in NZ, but L'uccello in Melbourne was a treasure trove of lace and trims http://luccello.cart.net.au/ They probably do mail order and the post wouldn't be too much from there.

Lovely Katrina. If you have an emporioum type hop close by, they usually have a great selection, and quite reasonably priced too.

Katrina,I noticed Spotlight in Oz had "Basics " ric rack, 40 pack 1m ea for $15..colour packs of Gelati,Primary and Pastel. Oodles of 40 pack ribbon for $10. I don't know if you have online NZ Spotlight shopping like we have in Oz. These trims,I believe are in the Scrapbooking section. Hope that's helpful.

They have a lovely shop with lots of very interesting bits and bobs... I live in Melbourne and on my visits to the store have never ever been disappointed...
