Kitchen Reno Update

Our house was built by DH and his Dad nearly 18 years ago now, we moved in when we just 22 and 23 years old. Before Hannah was born we bought a new section of land, thinking that we'd like to build again but soon came to the decision that we really loved the area of town where we live and would be quite happy to remain in our house, if only it was slightly bigger.  Well, that was the start of the first of many changes to our house, including a whole new extension being built on which has given us a second lounge area (currently Hannah's playroom), a covered in deck, a swimming pool and surrounding deck put in and of course, plans for a new kitchen were on the agenda too.

Over the past twelve months DH has been slowing working on our new kitchen, a few hours here and then when there's been a bit of quite time at his kitchen joinery business. During the first few weeks of this year he completed all the cabinets and units so then it was time to pull out our existing kitchen!  This happened this past Saturday and by Saturday night, the first parts of our new kitchen were placed into their temporary positions.  We now have to wait for our electrician to move some of the existing power points before Glenn can do any further installing.

This was our kitchen up until Friday evening:

Progress made by Saturday morning tea time, pantry unit and corner unit out.
After lunch on Saturday, my BIL having a cool drink and a breather after all that heavy lifting.

Saturday evening, some of the new units in - loving the large corner pantry and the wall oven.

So just to keep it real this our "kitchen" in the meantime, lol

And all the necessities set up on my Dad's wall papering tressel table!

Thank goodness it's still barbequing weather!

I do feel for you re your temporary kitchen. John has just finished sanding the walls in our bedroom ready for painting. Our clothes are all over the dining room, lounge and laundry. I am not the most paitent of people!!!!! Going away tomorrow for few days, when we arrive home John will do the painting. I love the corner china pantry in your original kitchen. Hope the rest if the work goes well.

Like camping out without the bugs and wild things. I'm looking forward to the photos of the finished kitchen.

It's a little necessary mess :D I like the way people do their own stuff in america..nobody does it in here..it is hard to see someone who built their own house....never saw.

Renovations can be stressful, so remember--deep breaths! I have been through a huge one, where we added on more square feet than we had (2nd floor and extension), and I STILL don't like to go shopping since! Looking forward to seeing more pictures! Hugs!

Your kitchen is still a mess. Good thing there’s good progress going on. Somehow you’re assured that everything is going great so far. I just hope things will continue to progress smoothly until it is finished. How is it, btw?
