Around here lately

Hello there

This Halloween was Hannah's first at dressing up and going trick or treating with big cousin Zoe. Over the years Halloween seems to be getting more and more popular with New Zealand kids and Hannah was very excited about the whole thing. She couldn't wait to get stuck into the lollies she returned home with! The girls only went to a couple of places, one of my aunty's, Granny and Pops, and a friend's house.

Witchypoo even had her own black cat!

Hannah's arm is still in a cast - fingers crossed, it's coming off next week :)

Over the past few weekends, Glenn and I have spent a lot of time outside, getting our gardens tidied up and the vegetable garden is well and truly in production mode. We've been able to plant out seedlings a lot earlier this year due to milder weather.

This is our newest raised vegetable garden - can't wait to get this planted up.

In the greenhouse, all the tomatoes and other seedlings are coming along nicely - gee, it gets hot in there!

Glenn has his tomatoes all planted - they even have their own irrigation system for this summer - last year we were watering by the bucket load. He's grown all the tomato plants from seed - small fry, big beef, money maker and mortgage lifter.

We've also taken the cover off the swimming pool in anticipation of some warm weather.

Every October I like to get ready a few pots for our decks - this year I've planted petunias and impatients. I keep them close to the side of the house for a few weeks incase we get a late spring frost.

Isn't this lovely, this is a new petunia out in the garden centres called Twilight.

A couple of new additions, which will be planted soon - mini lemon, lime and two mandarin trees. We have a large, and very prolific orange tree and I've always wanted more fruit trees.

Lastly for today, this pretty bunch of flowers was left on my desk at work earlier this week by one of my staff members about to start some annual leave - it smells so good!

See you soon x

Well, you cant be a witch without a black cat, so very sensible of Hannah to make sure she was prepared. Wow, you veggies look amazing...we are now into the last of the carrots and parsnips and face a winter of kale and spinach...and here you are at the beginning of the season: I need to live in your part of the world for six months and then come back here for six months so I always have fresh toms xx

Love your raised garden beds and all your plants.

Hannah is a super cute witchypoo! We had mini chocolate bars at the ready, but no trick or treaters this year.

I forget that your part of the world is on a different seasonal pattern than I am :) Your petunias are gorgeous and impatiens are my favorite too, but I hate it when they drop their flower petals, its hard to keep up with them after they get really large.
Your witchy is pretty as a picture and your home and gardens...how lovely and perfect!

Keep posting those garden pictures as we put our gardens to bed here in the States. I'll be looking for those Twilight Petunias next spring for my garden! ~*

My Mom use to have a Greenhouse and you are right..it does get pretty hot in there...she loved her Greenhouse...she spent a lot of time in her Greenhouse. My dad had a huge Garden so he took care of the Garden. We had fruit trees and all kinds of Fresh Vegetables from the Garden to eat all year around. I miss those days. Your Greenhouse looks very similar to my Mom's greenhouse that she had. The Greenhouse is no longer there. I kinda miss it.

Wow, Katrina - your vege gardens look AMAZING! And Hannah looked super cute in her costume, glad she had a bit of fun on halloween. I have slowly gotten used to the occasion over here, although we didn't take the kids out this year because it was a cold and rainy night... just handed out lollies to the ones who braved the weather! Hope Hannah will be cast-free very soon! Jen x

Hannah looks great in her costume. Your garden does look very productive, it's nice having fruit and veg as fresh as it possibly can be, Love the colour of the petunia.

What great photos :) Hannah looks so cute in her witchy outfit. And I love all your garden photos, it must be so nice to be able to grow your own food. Sadly I only have a small balcony and I can't seem to get anything to grow on it at the moment!
