A finish and some new projects

We've been having a heat wave over the past few days and it seems the temperature just keeps on rising and rising! Over the weekend, Hannah and I (DH was away) spent most of our time swimming, getting hot, and swimming some more, lol. We also enjoyed having some friends around for a pot luck tea Saturday night, and then checking out a local fair with arts and craft, fruit and vegetables, and other food stalls on Sunday morning. Late in the day I went along to my cousin to be's bridal shower - this coming weekend the lovely Amanda marries one of my youngest cousins, Glen. We are all very much looking forward to their wedding, they are a great couple.

So with the sticky, muggy, sweaty heat there hasn't been a lot of stitching going on these past few days, but I've been trying to do a bit here and there. This past week I finished the first of the three baby samplers I've been asked to stitch this year:

Baby Row by Bent Creek
stitched with the recommended threads on 32ct platinum belfast linen.

(please excuse my not such a great photo taken early on Sunday morning)

I downloaded the latest Gift of Stitching magazine the other day, and found several great projects in this issue. One of my friends is having a birthday later this month so I've decided to stitch this needleroll pattern for her - it uses one of my most favourite DMC shades 926 too. I'm looking forward to getting this underway as its been quite some time since I stitched a needleroll!

Another new project in my craft bag involved a visit to my local quilting shop to spend a voucher from Christmas. You might recognise one of the fabrics, its the same as I used recently for Alice's Mrs Perkins giraffe.

With these I'm going to make up lots of these hexagons and turn them into bags - watch this space!!

Lastly, from our weekend, Hannah all dressed up in a pretty summer frock before we went out on Sunday. I love that her hair is now long enough to put into plaits - my Mum always plaited my hair when I was the same age.

Enjoy your week, thanks for coming by today.

What pretty stitching and fabrics!!

It's funny to read about a heatwave when here it's snowing so hard they've delayed school!

Hannah looks very pretty - I can't wait to be able to plait Abbey's hair! Although the way it's going I'll have to wait a few years :o)

Love that Baby Row by Bent Creek... I've never seen that pattern before.

Hannah is growing up so quickly - I used to wear plaits when I was here age, too!

I love the fabric - I'm intrigued as to how the bags will look when done.

I love the baby sampler you are working on, I haven't seen that one before. The trouble with visiting lots of blogs is that I see all these glorious patterns and want to add them to my stash! lol
