Visit to the Quilt Store

During a recent look through my fabrics I decided that I didn't have quite what I wanted to make my little niece Alice a "Mrs Perkins" for Christmas so I thought it was time to make visit to one of the local quilt stores - Quiltworks. I haven't stopped by there in ages and it was quite enjoyable spending my lunchbreak browsing around through all the shelves of beautiful fabrics.

I quickly found the perfect fat quarter and will match it with some red polka dot fabric which I think will look cool together. As usual, I came away with extras!!

some red ric rac, some DMC 115

a pretty tin for my sewing pins and this pair of black and white scissors to add to the collection.

I also decided to splash out on this hexagon template, not only to use for another hexagon quilt that I'd like to make next year for my niece Zoe, but also for a couple of other hezagon projects in the works.
Lastly for today, my thoughts are with the family and friends of the 29 men who have died in the Pike River Mining tragedy. So very sad and tragic for the community of Greymouth and for our country. RIP.

I sincerely wish New Zealand had had a happier ending in Greymouth.

You've chosen some lovely bits and pieces Katrina, those scissors are cuties.

Sending thoughts and prayers to the West Coast, it's such a terrible tragedy, so very sad for the families and communities.
