A Girly Quilt for Hannah

Would you believe I have another quilting project on the go? I've been watching the progress on a quilt that one of my workmates has been making so I finally gave in (or should that be caved in, lol) last week and went to visit my local quilting store. A few dollars later (!!) and I came away with lots of pretty girly fabric to get started on one for Hannah.

The idea behind this particular quilt is that you use random pieces of fabric to make the hexagons, using a plain fabric for the backing, and then sew them together in rows however you perfer the fabrics to match up. How easy is that?

These are what I achieved in a few hours last night.

I've got quite a few more to go if I want to make a single bed size quilt for Hannah!! My main colour choices are pinks, purples and greens, and anything with spots or butterflies too, so I'll be keeping an eye out whenever I go near any fabric shops for suitable fabrics.

I can't believe its now August - and guess what that means for us Kiwi's - spring is now only four weeks away! yay! Thank goodness, this winter has certainly been the coldest and wettest I can remember for a very long time. I'll be so pleased when I can ditch the thermals, socks and winter boots!
Catch up again soon x

That's going to make a lovely quilt, fun pattern. Beautiful finishes in your earlier post too. I love the ladybug one and have it in my stash to do at some point.

That is going to look fantastic when it is finished. I love the hexagons. We are in peak summer at the mo...and have had nothing but rain and wind for the last 5 weeks. Miserable....four more weeks and we have the start of Autumn ;-(
