End of April

The last week of April is here.  New Zealand will be moving out of Level 4 and into Level 3 from Tuesday 28th April, allowing some people to return to work and some businesses to start operating, but for many, continue to stay at home in our household bubbles. We will be at Alert Level 3 for two weeks, with the NZ Government making further decisions on May 11th.

On Saturday 25th April, New Zealand and Australia mark the landing of our defence forces at Gallipoli in World War 1 and honour all returned service men and women, and current service personnel. This year all ANZAC services were cancelled and we were asked to #standatdawn at the ends of our driveways. We made our way to our gate at 5.55 am, in the cold and dark, and there were people out from up and down our street, all standing at the driveways. One of our national radio stations broadcast a live service and our neighbour streamed it for us to hear.  It was a very surreal moment, one to never forget. I had tears running down my face as I thought of my paternal grandfather, Dudley Edgar Rosser, who served World War 11 1939-1945.

As the sun came up, we were treated to the most stunning sunrise.

Hannah decorated our fence, as did a lot of people around New Zealand - their windows, drive ways, paths, etc.

We also made ANZAC biscuits, so yummy with a cuppa.

ANZAC Day 2020, a very touching day and one we won't forget in a hurry.

Hannah is continuing with her online schooling each day and also some extra activities to keep her busy.  I have helped her start a Family Tree project, something that she's been wanting to do for ages. So far she's added us, her cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Next up is her grandparents siblings and children. All four are from quite large families so that might take awhile!

Hannah has also been trying out a few different crafts and one thing she wanted to try was how to
add an image to a t shirt - success!

Talking about ironing, I've been getting some great use out of the wool press mat I bought earlier in the year. I purchased it from here and it's been really good so far, especially if I don't want to set up the ironing board.

See you soon xx

ANZAC day was a strange one. It is lovely to see poppies on gates and fences though, rather than just at the memorials. We had someone nearby playing the bagpipes.
Good on Hannah for trying out new things.

In the circumstances you had a good celebration of Anzac Day. It's good that your daughter has found things to interest her otherwise I imagine that she would find her days very long.
