Bitten by the Knitting Bug

Years ago before I became addicted to cross stitch, lol, I was quite a prolific knitter. But once I started stitching it became a hobby that I only picked up now and again. During the holidays I decided to start a special project for our baby, a baby shawl. So I chose a pattern from Debbie Bliss's Essential Knits book and some gorgeous cream coloured baby cashemerino wool.

This wool is so divine to knit with, lovely and soft. At the moment the shawl is my Monday night project and I'm about half way with it. I've got lots of baby knitting patterns tucked away, some that I've already knitted for new babies in our family but lots that I thought some day might come in handy:) On Tuesday night I was having a look through what I had and have pulled out several patterns that I'll be buying some wool for over the next few months. Last night I started a hooded baby jacket and have finished the back for it already.

When I've not been knitting this week, I've been working on Blessings Be Thine. I only have the bottom right hand corner of the pattern to stitch now. Please excuse the wrinkles :)

I'm looking forward to the weekend already. On Friday afternoon I have a friend coming to visit for a stitchey get together and then my cousin Donna is staying with us Saturday night. We've also been invited to our friends' daughter's first birthday party on Sunday so its going to be a pretty busy few days.

Baby News: this week I had my monthly checkup with our midwife. Everything is progressing well with baby and I was told I'm in really good health. It was wonderful to hear the baby's heartbeat again. I'm nearly 6 months along now. At work I've been starting to think about the projects I need to get completed before my maternity leave begins late April/early May because February and March are always pretty full on with one thing or another.

Your baby jacket looks like it is wonderfully soft. I absolutely love your Blessings Be Thine sampler - it's lovely.

And congrats about your baby - and good luck with your pre-baby-arrival projects! :)

Good luck with the baby shawl. I started one for my son when I was expecting him almost 8 years ago. I still promise him that I'll finish it ..... one day! On my current pregnancy, I haven't made it past buying the pattern and yarn!

Good to hear your pregnany is going well, hope it continues to do so.

Both projects are lovely!

Have you checked out Ravelry? It's an online knitting community. I'm on there under Singular Stitches.

Curly Q and your little Lamb in your earlier post look wonderful. How lucky to have a frame on hand already for Curly Q, I'll look forward to seeing it finished up.

All your current projects are beautiful. The yarn in your knitting projects looks so soft and snuggly, and Blessings is looking gorgeous.

I used to be a prolific knitter, too, but haven't done any since discovering cross stitch. I'm going to change that this year - I got some wool (from Australia) from my mother for Christmas, so I'll be knitting myself a sweater this year.
