Several hours of concentration later, I got it!

Only I've had a bit of a hiccup - on Friday night I broke my crochet hook! It was just a plastic one. After visting both the local wool shops yesterday to find another 4.5mm, neither had them in stock so what's a girl to do - start another project using a different sized hook! I'll check out with my co-workers on Monday to see if any of them have the size I'm after.
Thanks for stopping by :)

Good on you trying crochet Katrina. Its not too bad a hobby. Used to do it a few years ago, using up all my wool to make knee rugs for the people in the rest home where my Dad was. Here is an online shop that sells crochet hooks - all sizes :)

Those squares so cute and colourful! I did crochet an afghan for my DH but I haven't really done any since and I never did learn to do the granny squares. I may have to ask my mom to show me as they could be very fun to work on!
Brilliant!!!!! Love them. Was looking at crochet sites on 'how to learn' earlier today.
Kath to the rescue... I have onein my hot little hand for you.
I can't believe those are your first blocks! They're so perfect. Congratulations, you've learned very well.
Looking good!!!
Beautiful colour combo!! I tried crochet once before with no success but after seeing yours I'll have to give it another go.
Wow! Your first experiments are very good, and colors are wonderful!
Best wishes,
Tatyana
Those colours are spectacular! I want to learn to crochet too...
Just like your needlework - your stitches are so neat and beautiful!
Way to go
I love your colour scheme for those gorgeous grannies! That will be one lucky dolly.
